PREMIER LEAGUE

 

Burslem capitalised on Little Stoke’s defeat to Knypersley to sneak to a single point behind the Waterworld Premier Division leaders.

Michael Brown claimed match-winning figures of 7-32 as they dismissed Porthill Park for 122, chasing 187.

Earlier, Michael Rowley (56) and Alex Bailey (46) were the main contributors for Burslem with the bat despite excellent figures from Porthill’s Mark Bengry (6-71).

 

Knypersley completed a 76-run win over Little Stoke.

Dan Ball (41), Paul Goodwin (51 not out) and Ross Salmon (44) helped Knypersley to a competitive 179-8.

The chase was always a struggle for Little Stoke as only Dan Hancock (26) provided much resistance, the visitors eventually being bowled out for 103.

 

Barlaston also suffered defeat to Stone after a clinical run chase.

Shaun Jenkinson (51) and Richard Harvey (63 not out) lead the charge to complete the six-wicket win in the 49th over.

Earlier, Ben Grange (45), Niroshan Bandaratilleke (59) and Tom Taylor (59 not out) helped Barlaston to 203-4.

 

Elworth recorded their second win in as many weeks at the hands of Audley.

Audley batted first posting 130 as Elworth professional Yasir Ali claimed excellent returns of 7-58. Richard Holloway top scored with 42.

In reply, Elworth managed the get over the winning line despite the loss of regular wickets from Roger Sillence (5-72) to complete a three-wicket win.

 

Hem Heath were indebted to John Sadler’s knock to ensure they stay out of relegation troubles.

Wood Lane hit 184-8 thanks to Ashar Zaidi (66) as opening pair Muhammad Jahangir (5-91) and Danny Milligan (3-80) bowled throughout.

In reply, Hem Heath were reeling at 30-5 and then 97-8 until Derbyshire’s Sadler hit an unbeaten 125 not out to single-handedly knock off the runs. Mustafa Bashir was the pick of the Wood Lane attack claiming 7-75.

 

Longton beat Moddershall by five wickets.

Moddershall hit 145 through Andrew Heard (36) but good bowling from Dave Edwards (3-32) and Thomas Mellor (3-21) helped to restrict the Moddershall batsmen.

Longton made light work of the chase knocking off the runs inside 25 overs thanks to Ben Lucas (52), Phil Adams (34) and Pete Wilshaw (28) with Asad Ali the pick of the attack claiming 4-68.

 

DIVISION ONE

 

Leek require just a further two wins to secure their place in the Premier Division next season after a demolition of Cheadle.

Greg Willott (7-34) and Mohammad Hussain (3-5) helped roll Cheadle for 39.

Leek lost wickets in reply, mainly to Chris Barker (3-20) but completed the five-wicket win in the 12th over.

 

Meir Heath recorded a narrow seven-run win over Leycett.

Batting first, Meir Heath hit 144 with Phil Stevens top scoring with 25. Leycett’s Michael Barcroft (4-44) and Muhammad Khalil (3-40) doing the damage.

Leycett had their backs to the wall at 56-5 but Tas Hussain (56) and Richar Walker (36) brought them to within touching distance of a win, but Iftikhar Asghar (5-33) and Adam Birch (4-57) dashed their hopes.

 

Sandyford chased down Stafford’s total of 169-9 to record a three-wicket win.

Match-winning knock from Stephan Shemilt (58) and Jonathan Barnett (59) ensured the win in the 47th over, despite Noel Hunt’s 6-63.

Earlier, Mark Smallman top scored with 48 in Stafford’s innings with Sandyford professional Sohail Rauf taking 4-40.

 

Norton’s Ian Reynolds tore through Betley’s batting line-up to take 8-45 and help them to victory.

Betley were dismissed for 94 with Dave Snape top scoring with an unbeaten 26.

Norton made slight hard work of the chase but secured a much needed win after 30 overs with Alex Graham (28) and Jordan Weaver (24 not out) the main contributors.

 

Rode Park had to settle with a winning draw over Oulton.

Oulton hit 261-8 thanks to Henry Wright (87), Andy Dawson (35 not out), and Robert Cooper (30).

But Rode Park gave the run chase a good go through Alex Perry (48), Ian Harding (47) and Ben Taylor (40) but the loss of wickets courtesy of Oulton professional Pradeep Jayaprakashdaran (5-114) and a rain break halted the chances of a Rode Park win as they finished 15 runs shy.

 

Blythe cruised to a nine-wicket win over Whitmore.

Jemaal Maqsood (6-17) and Peter Finch (4-36) dismissed Whitmore for 61 inside 24 overs, with opener Joe Bridgewater top scoring with 18.

And Blythe’s Haydon Simcock (31 not out) and Martin Bailey (20 not out) chased down the runs in comfortable style.

 

DIVISION TWO

 

Checkley and Weston are tied at the top of the ASC Financial Management Division Two.

Weston secured a winning draw against Kidsgrove. Weston posted a mammoth 280 thanks to Michael Alexander (86) and Joe Gates (139) but they couldn’t dismiss Kidsgrove in reply following stubborn batting from Dave Leese (78) and Dave Follett (seven not out).

 

Checkley missed out on an opportunity to gain an advantage at the top as they suffered defeat to Meakins.

Andy Carr hit 34 and Ian Carr (41) in their total of 175-6.

But in Meakins reply, they failed to take regular wickets as were punished by Sam Nixon (30), Chathura Hereth (49) and Sujith Vidange (32 not out) as Meakins completed a five-wicket win.

 

Ashcombe Park went to within seven points of the promotion places after Mohammad Junaid Khan yet again ripped through another batting line-up, this week Silverdale.

Khan took 7-40 alongside Andrew Jones (3-22) as the pair bowled Silverdale out for 63.

Earlier, Ashcombe Park hit 140-9 thanks to Adam Wilson (58) and Philip Clowes (30) with Glynn Moore (4-76) and Scott Degg (4-22) taking four wickets apiece.

 

Moddershall ‘A’ claimed a narrow winning draw against Wedgwood & Stanfields.

Moddershall ‘A’ batted first and hit 204, mainly thanks to Ijaz Ahmed’s 81 with Wedgwood’s Gareth Lello taking 6-32.

And Wedgwood finished agonisingly close on 200-8 with Jonathan Tweats (63) top scoring. Chris Dyer was the pick of the Moddershall ‘A’ attack with 5-73.

 

Crewe recorded a five-wicket win to keep themselves away from relegation worries.

Crewe’s Nolan McKenzie claimed 5-57 to help his team restrict Caverswall to 154, Owen Price (35) top scoring.

In reply, Crewe’s Kimany Gregoire (46) and Bernie Bishop (33) helped to complete the run chase.

 

Alsager completed a comfortable win over relegation-threatened Newcastle & Hartshill.

Richard Cooper claimed excellent returns of 6-43 as they bowled Newcastle out for 108, with James Hagan hitting 47.

And the win was sealed through Paul Pickford’s unbeaten 46 alongside a gritty 33 from Richard South.

 

DIVISION THREE

 

Little Gym Division Three’s top side Bignall End and Bagnall both won to increase their lead at the top.

Bignall End cruised to a nine-wicket win over Meir Heath/Fenton. Chris Jenkins (45) and Chris Mellor (46) helped Meir Heath/Fenton to 133, with Kim Barnett claiming 5-35.

And Barnett’s unbeaten 44 alongside Matthew Burgess’s 61 sealed the win after 26 overs.

 

Bagnall’s Kashif Daud produced match-winning figures of 8-22 as they dismissed Hanford for 90 and completed a three-wicket win.

Only Ian Davies (23) and Mike Coxon (21) provided any resistance to the Daud onslaught.

Bagnall did make hard work of the chase but an unbeaten 27 from Rob Ward ensured victory inside 30 overs.

 

Eccleshall managed a comfortable 88-run win over Porthill Park ‘A’.

Eccleshall hit 204-9 thanks to Robert Lakin (42) and Richie Gallichan (44). Josh Butler was the pick of the Porthill attack claiming 4-27.

The run chase was always struggling and only a quickfire 55 from Greg Bailey prolonged the inevitable as Porthill were bowled out for 116.

 

Hem Heath/ Forsbrook were indebted to Ataur Rehman’s bat and bowl performance as they ran away with an eight-wicket win over Endon.

Endon hit 188 with scores from Phil Rowley (36), Kevin Cockerton (33) and Andrew Sambrook (26).

But Rehman (6-98) helped restrict the visitors and then helped to knock off the runs in quick style, hitting a rapid unbeaten 71 with good support from youngsters Nick Wild (51 not out) and Matthew Bailey (44).

 

Stone SP dismissed Wootton for 79, chasing 152 to ease to a 73-run win.

Joseph Smith (44) helped Stone SP to a competitive total as Wootton’s bowlers shared the wickets around.

And the chase was never really on after the loss of early wickets as Matt Stupples finished off the job claiming 4-28.

 

Woore sit in third spot after a promising win over Oakamoor.

Woore batted first and hit 186 thanks to Harry Oliver (32) and Piradeban Ponnudarai (30).

The chase looked to be in reach for Oakamoor at 100-3 thanks to Muhammad Ayub (50) and Jonathan Wood (26).

But the middle and late order collapsed as Jonty Bailey (3-43) and Andrew Kenvyn (3-21) helped to bowl them out for 154.

PREMIER DIVISION

Little Stoke’s gap at the top of the Waterworld Premier Division was extended to 20 points after their win against Porthill Park and Barlaston’s defeat to Hem Heath.
Porthill were dismissed for 65 with Shabir Ahmed (6-26) and Nick Bratt (4-30) doing the damage.
And the total was knocked off with ease thanks to Richard Adams (26 not out) in the 24th over.

Hem Heath pulled themselves out of the bottom two with their eight-wicket win over Barlaston.
Qasier Abbas (4-31) and Stephen Atkinson (3-49) helped restrict Barlaston to 163-8, Muhammad Khan top scoring with 51.
And Abbas (64 not out) helped to steer Hem Heath over the winning line for the third time this season with excellent support from Lee Ridgway (56 not out).

Craig Barker toook 5-4 as Audley skittled Burslem for 46 chasing 164.
David Fairbanks (48) and Roger Sillence (47) helped to build a competitive score for the home side before Barker and Tom Oakes (3-31) set to their demolition job.

Moddershall beat Knypersley by six wickets.
Knypersley batted first, hitting 152. Nayyer Abbas (55) and Spencer Byatt (31) contributing the majority of the runs. Asad Ali was the pick of the Moddershall attack claiming 6-34.
In reply, Scott Oliver hit 73 alongside an unbeaten 29 from William Hudson as they crossed the winning line in the 49th over.

Longton completed a one-wicket win over Stone.
Stone batted first and posted 183-7 with Richard Harvey top scoring with an unbeaten 65.
And Longton were reeling at 148-9 but last pair Adam Whalley (34 not out) and Steve Pugh (seven not out) scraped home in the last over.

Elworth recorded their first win of the season against Wood Lane.
Yasir Ali took 6-57 as Wood Lane were dismissed for 109, with only Richard Hassall (48 not out) providing much resistance.
Robert Beech (39 not out) and David Toft (30 not out) made no mistake in the run chase with victory coming in the 33rd over.

DIVISION ONE

Leek beat Oulton to record their 10th outright win of the season and further cement their spot in the JSW Insurance Division One promotion places.
Mohammad Hussain claimed 6-63 as Leek bowled Oulton out for 121, chasing 167.
Earlier, Alex Mellor (37) and Joel Bayley (29) helped Leek to a winning total, with Oulton professional taking 6-59.

Blythe completed a four-wicket win over Cheadle.
Peter Finch (4-47) and Matt Goodwin (4-23) helped to dismiss Cheadle for 122, with James Sellers top scoring on 29.
Blythe’s Gary Wilson (34) lead the chase as they won in the 28th over.

Adam Garbar’s unbeaten 54 helped Norton to victory over Meir Heath.
Meir Heath had batted first, posting 129-9 with Richard Stonier (37) and Jake Heath (30) the main contributors.
But Garbar’s stubborn knock ensured the Norton win despite the best efforts from Meir Heath’s Iftikhar Asghar 23-over spell taking 3-40.

Leycett recorded a three-wicket win over Rode Park & Lawton.
Alex Perry (45) started the Rode Park innings well but three wickets apiece from MMuhammad Khalil (3-47), Michael Barcroft (3-44) and Tas Hussain (3-18).
Khalil also got 50 in reply to help Leycett to victory with good support from Ian Boulton (27) and Richard Walker (20 not out).

Sandyford’s James Pringle claimed match-winning figures of 6-23 as he helped to dismiss Whitmore for 89, chasing 203.
Gareth Rigby top scored in Sandyford’s innings with 58 as they were dismissed on the last ball of their 55 overs.
But Pringle and Andrew Barnett (4-32) had too much for Whitmore as they were dismissed in the 35th over to send Sandyford second.

Betley were indebted to Jamie Jervis’s unbeaten 104, as they cruised to a nine-wicket win over Stafford.

Jervis and Tom Berrisford (65 not out) helped to knock off the runs after Stafford had posted 188-9, Jordan Wood top scoring with an unbeaten 40.DIVISION TWO

Meakins completed a one wicket win over Weston.
Weston had hit 175 thanks to Raj Kumar’s 83 and in Meakins reply scores from Ranil Dhammika (28), Matthew Redican (36) and Simon Baker (23) helped to ensure a Meakins win in the 58th over.

Checkley completed a comfortable seven-wicket win over Wedgwood & Stanfields.
Iain Carr (5-37) and Gavin Carr (4-26) helped Checkley bowl Wedgwood out for 72.
And John Pickles (48) helped to steer Checkley to victory in the 15th over.

Caverswall’s Owen Price hit an unbeaten 62 as they knocked off Kidgsrove’s total of 115.
Mukesh Sharma top scored for Kidsgrove with 55 but three wickets apiece from Marlon Martin (3-48), Dave Allen (3-20) and Chris Baranowski (3-17) helped them.
In reply, Price had support from Jake Edge (31) as they cruised home in the 29th over.

On a tricky deck, Moddershall ‘A’ beat Alsager by five wickets.
Shaun Brian (6-30) and Alex Thorley (4-36) bowled superbly to dismiss Alsager for 86 with Paul Pickford top scoring with 50.
And Haresh Reddy’s 29 in reply alongside an unbeaten 16 from Thorley helped them to victory in the 28th over.

Ashcombe Park’s Mohammad Junaid Khan impressed again claiming 8-29 as they dismissed Crewe for 50.
And Park knocked off the runs in the ninth over with Philip Clowes hitting an unbeaten 36 to complete the eight-wicket win.

Newcastle & Hartshill match against Silverdale was abandoned without play due to a waterlogged pitch.

DIVISION THREE

Bignall End won batting first against Stone SP to stay top of the Little Gym Division Three.
Three wickets apiece from Matthew Saive (3-42) and Kieran Peake (3-12) helped to dismiss Stone for 110, chasing 188-8.
Earlier, Kim Barnett hit 63 and Andrew Howle hit an unbeaten 48 in Bignall End’s innings.

Bagnall remain hot on Bignall End’s toes for the lead as they beat Meir Heath/Fenton by 120 runs.
Kashif Daud hit an unbeaten 119 and Edward Bateman (69 not out) in their total of 240-2 declared.
But Bagnall’s bowlers were too much for Meir Heath/Fenton as Alex Ravenscroft (4-31) and Andy Rowson (5-9) bowled them out for 120.

Hem Heath/Forsbrook completed an eight-wicket win over Woore.
Andrew Kenvyn (49) and Piradeban Ponnudurai (44) helped Woore to 159 with Dean Baxter claiming 5-36.
In reply, Matthew Bailey (47), Nick Wild (45 not out) and Ataur Rehman (39) steered Hem Heath/Forsbrook home in the 49th over.

Oakamoor beat Eccleshall by eight wickets.
Edward Brookes (5-37) and Muhammad Ayub (3-17) tore through the Eccleshall batting line-up to dismiss them for 81.
And Ayub hit a quickfire unbeaten 56 in reply as they knocked off the total in the 15th over.

Hanford completed an excellent run chase to beat Porthill Park ‘A’.
Porthill hit 168 through Matt Farr (46) and Chris Matthews (45 not out). Mike Coxon did the damage for Hanford claiming 6-98.
Hanford’s reply went smoothly with Ian Davies (73) and Mark Haggerty (28 not out) steering them to victory in the 43rd over.
