Burslem capitalised on Little Stoke’s defeat to Knypersley to sneak to a single point behind the Waterworld Premier Division leaders.
Michael Brown claimed match-winning figures of 7-32 as they dismissed Porthill Park for 122, chasing 187.
Earlier, Michael Rowley (56) and Alex Bailey (46) were the main contributors for Burslem with the bat despite excellent figures from Porthill’s Mark Bengry (6-71).
Knypersley completed a 76-run win over Little Stoke.
Dan Ball (41), Paul Goodwin (51 not out) and Ross Salmon (44) helped Knypersley to a competitive 179-8.
The chase was always a struggle for Little Stoke as only Dan Hancock (26) provided much resistance, the visitors eventually being bowled out for 103.
Barlaston also suffered defeat to Stone after a clinical run chase.
Shaun Jenkinson (51) and Richard Harvey (63 not out) lead the charge to complete the six-wicket win in the 49th over.
Earlier, Ben Grange (45), Niroshan Bandaratilleke (59) and Tom Taylor (59 not out) helped Barlaston to 203-4.
Elworth recorded their second win in as many weeks at the hands of Audley.
Audley batted first posting 130 as Elworth professional Yasir Ali claimed excellent returns of 7-58. Richard Holloway top scored with 42.
In reply, Elworth managed the get over the winning line despite the loss of regular wickets from Roger Sillence (5-72) to complete a three-wicket win.
Hem Heath were indebted to John Sadler’s knock to ensure they stay out of relegation troubles.
Wood Lane hit 184-8 thanks to Ashar Zaidi (66) as opening pair Muhammad Jahangir (5-91) and Danny Milligan (3-80) bowled throughout.
In reply, Hem Heath were reeling at 30-5 and then 97-8 until Derbyshire’s Sadler hit an unbeaten 125 not out to single-handedly knock off the runs. Mustafa Bashir was the pick of the Wood Lane attack claiming 7-75.
Longton beat Moddershall by five wickets.
Moddershall hit 145 through Andrew Heard (36) but good bowling from Dave Edwards (3-32) and Thomas Mellor (3-21) helped to restrict the Moddershall batsmen.
Longton made light work of the chase knocking off the runs inside 25 overs thanks to Ben Lucas (52), Phil Adams (34) and Pete Wilshaw (28) with Asad Ali the pick of the attack claiming 4-68.
DIVISION ONE
Leek require just a further two wins to secure their place in the Premier Division next season after a demolition of Cheadle.
Greg Willott (7-34) and Mohammad Hussain (3-5) helped roll Cheadle for 39.
Leek lost wickets in reply, mainly to Chris Barker (3-20) but completed the five-wicket win in the 12th over.
Meir Heath recorded a narrow seven-run win over Leycett.
Batting first, Meir Heath hit 144 with Phil Stevens top scoring with 25. Leycett’s Michael Barcroft (4-44) and Muhammad Khalil (3-40) doing the damage.
Leycett had their backs to the wall at 56-5 but Tas Hussain (56) and Richar Walker (36) brought them to within touching distance of a win, but Iftikhar Asghar (5-33) and Adam Birch (4-57) dashed their hopes.
Sandyford chased down Stafford’s total of 169-9 to record a three-wicket win.
Match-winning knock from Stephan Shemilt (58) and Jonathan Barnett (59) ensured the win in the 47th over, despite Noel Hunt’s 6-63.
Earlier, Mark Smallman top scored with 48 in Stafford’s innings with Sandyford professional Sohail Rauf taking 4-40.
Norton’s Ian Reynolds tore through Betley’s batting line-up to take 8-45 and help them to victory.
Betley were dismissed for 94 with Dave Snape top scoring with an unbeaten 26.
Norton made slight hard work of the chase but secured a much needed win after 30 overs with Alex Graham (28) and Jordan Weaver (24 not out) the main contributors.
Rode Park had to settle with a winning draw over Oulton.
Oulton hit 261-8 thanks to Henry Wright (87), Andy Dawson (35 not out), and Robert Cooper (30).
But Rode Park gave the run chase a good go through Alex Perry (48), Ian Harding (47) and Ben Taylor (40) but the loss of wickets courtesy of Oulton professional Pradeep Jayaprakashdaran (5-114) and a rain break halted the chances of a Rode Park win as they finished 15 runs shy.
Blythe cruised to a nine-wicket win over Whitmore.
Jemaal Maqsood (6-17) and Peter Finch (4-36) dismissed Whitmore for 61 inside 24 overs, with opener Joe Bridgewater top scoring with 18.
And Blythe’s Haydon Simcock (31 not out) and Martin Bailey (20 not out) chased down the runs in comfortable style.
DIVISION TWO
Checkley and Weston are tied at the top of the ASC Financial Management Division Two.
Weston secured a winning draw against Kidsgrove. Weston posted a mammoth 280 thanks to Michael Alexander (86) and Joe Gates (139) but they couldn’t dismiss Kidsgrove in reply following stubborn batting from Dave Leese (78) and Dave Follett (seven not out).
Checkley missed out on an opportunity to gain an advantage at the top as they suffered defeat to Meakins.
Andy Carr hit 34 and Ian Carr (41) in their total of 175-6.
But in Meakins reply, they failed to take regular wickets as were punished by Sam Nixon (30), Chathura Hereth (49) and Sujith Vidange (32 not out) as Meakins completed a five-wicket win.
Ashcombe Park went to within seven points of the promotion places after Mohammad Junaid Khan yet again ripped through another batting line-up, this week Silverdale.
Khan took 7-40 alongside Andrew Jones (3-22) as the pair bowled Silverdale out for 63.
Earlier, Ashcombe Park hit 140-9 thanks to Adam Wilson (58) and Philip Clowes (30) with Glynn Moore (4-76) and Scott Degg (4-22) taking four wickets apiece.
Moddershall ‘A’ claimed a narrow winning draw against Wedgwood & Stanfields.
Moddershall ‘A’ batted first and hit 204, mainly thanks to Ijaz Ahmed’s 81 with Wedgwood’s Gareth Lello taking 6-32.
And Wedgwood finished agonisingly close on 200-8 with Jonathan Tweats (63) top scoring. Chris Dyer was the pick of the Moddershall ‘A’ attack with 5-73.
Crewe recorded a five-wicket win to keep themselves away from relegation worries.
Crewe’s Nolan McKenzie claimed 5-57 to help his team restrict Caverswall to 154, Owen Price (35) top scoring.
In reply, Crewe’s Kimany Gregoire (46) and Bernie Bishop (33) helped to complete the run chase.
Alsager completed a comfortable win over relegation-threatened Newcastle & Hartshill.
Richard Cooper claimed excellent returns of 6-43 as they bowled Newcastle out for 108, with James Hagan hitting 47.
And the win was sealed through Paul Pickford’s unbeaten 46 alongside a gritty 33 from Richard South.
DIVISION THREE
Little Gym Division Three’s top side Bignall End and Bagnall both won to increase their lead at the top.
Bignall End cruised to a nine-wicket win over Meir Heath/Fenton. Chris Jenkins (45) and Chris Mellor (46) helped Meir Heath/Fenton to 133, with Kim Barnett claiming 5-35.
And Barnett’s unbeaten 44 alongside Matthew Burgess’s 61 sealed the win after 26 overs.
Bagnall’s Kashif Daud produced match-winning figures of 8-22 as they dismissed Hanford for 90 and completed a three-wicket win.
Only Ian Davies (23) and Mike Coxon (21) provided any resistance to the Daud onslaught.
Bagnall did make hard work of the chase but an unbeaten 27 from Rob Ward ensured victory inside 30 overs.
Eccleshall managed a comfortable 88-run win over Porthill Park ‘A’.
Eccleshall hit 204-9 thanks to Robert Lakin (42) and Richie Gallichan (44). Josh Butler was the pick of the Porthill attack claiming 4-27.
The run chase was always struggling and only a quickfire 55 from Greg Bailey prolonged the inevitable as Porthill were bowled out for 116.
Hem Heath/ Forsbrook were indebted to Ataur Rehman’s bat and bowl performance as they ran away with an eight-wicket win over Endon.
Endon hit 188 with scores from Phil Rowley (36), Kevin Cockerton (33) and Andrew Sambrook (26).
But Rehman (6-98) helped restrict the visitors and then helped to knock off the runs in quick style, hitting a rapid unbeaten 71 with good support from youngsters Nick Wild (51 not out) and Matthew Bailey (44).
Stone SP dismissed Wootton for 79, chasing 152 to ease to a 73-run win.
Joseph Smith (44) helped Stone SP to a competitive total as Wootton’s bowlers shared the wickets around.
And the chase was never really on after the loss of early wickets as Matt Stupples finished off the job claiming 4-28.
Woore sit in third spot after a promising win over Oakamoor.
Woore batted first and hit 186 thanks to Harry Oliver (32) and Piradeban Ponnudarai (30).
The chase looked to be in reach for Oakamoor at 100-3 thanks to Muhammad Ayub (50) and Jonathan Wood (26).
But the middle and late order collapsed as Jonty Bailey (3-43) and Andrew Kenvyn (3-21) helped to bowl them out for 154.
