Earlier, Phil Cheadle (52) and Russell Ballard ( 36 not out) set a platform for Stone until Khan ran through the tail.

Ben McGuire steered Knypersley to another win against Elworth. McGuire hit an unbeaten 71 as Knypersely chased down Elworth’s 160 with ease to complete a six-wicket win.

In Elworth’s innings Yasir Ali hit a quickfire 61 and was supported by Alex Edmonstone’s unbeaten 26 as they recovered from 81-6 to 160 all out. Robert James starred with the ball, claiming 5-34.

Moddershall held onto a losing draw against Little Stoke. The latter posted 157-9 with Josh Lowndes top scoring on 41. In reply, the loss of early key wickets saw Moddershall’s thoughts of a run chase out of the window as Scott Oliver (30) proved to be the thorn in Little Stoke’s side in his 118-ball innings, Moddershall ending on 118-9.

Longton’s Pete Wilshaw and Phil Adams shared a second-wicket stand on 201 as they blazed Hem Heath’s bowlers around. Wilshaw (159) and Adams (105) helped Longton to a commanding 334-4. The total was always a stretch and Hem Heath finished on 194-7 with John Cheadle (36), Qasier Abbas (74) and Mick Hall (29) consuming the time in the middle.

In similar fashion, Porthill failed to bowl Wood Lane out to record a win batting first. Saeed Anwar (124) was instrumental in providing the base for Porthill’s score of 260-6. At 59-4 Wood Lane fans could be forgiven to think all was lost but Shane Willis (32) and an unbeaten 63 from Jeff Maynard ensured they held on for the losing draw to end on 175-8.

DIVISION ONE

Leek’s Mohammad Hussain made a century and took six wickets as Leek dominated against Stafford to stay top of the JSW Insurance Division One. Leek hit 278-3 with Alex Mellor (127) and Hussain (107) as the pair shard a stand of 200. In reply, Stafford started brightly with Joe Askey (69) and Omar Ali (76) dealing with some lusty blows. But marathon spells from Hussain (6-64) and Colin Dearden (4-79) ensured the win as Stafford lost the last five wickets for 13 runs.

Meir Heath failed to bowl Blythe out to keep up the pace with Leek. Meir Heath hit 223-9 thanks to Richard Stonier’s 49 and an unbeaten 60 from Iftikhar Asghar. Blythe’s Praneeth Jayasundara (6-63) bowled well in his 22-over spell. In reply, Blythe were looking good at 120-3 but Asghar (4-29) off 22 overs ruined any hopes of a win as Blythe were left saving the game to finish on 179-8.

Cheadle also held on for a losing draw against Leycett. Leycett acquired Lancashire starlet Andrea Agathagelou to play and he showed his class hitting 90 out of Leycett’s total of 224-9. Cheadle came agonisingly close to the win on 211-9 but went to save the game as wickets started to tumble. Andrew Shaw (69), Will Riley (38) and Shaun Rashid (31) the main contributors.

Rode Park & Lawton completed a solid performance against Norton to record a four-wicket win. Norton were dismissed for 182 with Mark Stanfield (3-29) and Adam Taylor (3-38) taking three wickets apiece. And Rode Park’s Alex Perry hit 77 with support from Paul Chadwick (41) as they cruised to a win after 50 overs.

Sandyford rolled Betley for 78 to record a convincing 128-run win. Nottinghamshire’s fast bowler Charlie Shreck took 5-48 to tear through Betley’s top order. Shreck was well supported by Andrew Barnett (3-29) and James Pringle (2-3) to polish off the job in under 30 overs. Earlier, Sohail Rauf hit 35 and had good support from several others as they posted 206-9. Darren Snape claimed returns of 4-45 in a good bowling display for Betley.

Whitmore bowled Oulton out for 114 to record a 57-run win. Whitmore hit 171-9 with Joe Bridgewater (42) top scoring. Oulton’s Rob Spruce 4-51) and Andy Dawson (5-43) helping to restrict the total. But in Oulton’s reply only Harish Patel (36) dug his heels in as they were finally dismissed for 114. Whitmore’s Lee Johnson (4-29) was the pick of the attack.

DIVISION TWO

After last week’s disappointment, Checkley were back to winning ways against Ashcombe Park to remain at the top of the ASC Financial Management Division Two. Nick Hunt (43) and Daniel Amoss (45 not out) helped Checkley post 197-9. Ashcombe Park came agonisingly close to the win finishing six runs short on 192, with Checkley’s Jason Brown claiming excellent figures of 8-61.

Weston’s Raj Kumar hit 140 as they posted 245-7 against Caverswall. In reply, Caverswall’s middle order dug in after the loss of early wickets in the form of Marlon Martin (51) and Robert King (52 not out). But Mike Holt (4-52) polished off the tail as Caverswall were dismissed for 180. Alsager couldn’t get the final two wickets against Meakins as they lost some ground on the top four. Oliver Sadler carried his bat with an unbeaten 113 as Alsager recorded 278-6. In reply, Ranil Dhammika hit 61 with support from Andrew Reed (45). And it was left to Joe Prince (37 not out) to save the game, holding on to finish on 193-8.

Crewe knocked off Newcastle & Hartshill’s 127 to record a five-wicket win. Only James Collett (33) and Simon Wood (29) showed some application at the crease as Crewe’s Sukhpreet Singh claimed 5-30. In reply, Crewe’s opener Yasser Tariq hit an unbeaten 78 to guide his team over the winning line in the 33rd over.

Silverdale won in similar fashion at the hands of Wedgwood & Stanfields. Glynn Moore’s 5-52 helped to dismiss Wedgwood for 123 with Ian Addyman top scoring with an unbeaten 33. Despite the loss of an early wicket, Adam Michelson (27 not out), Mick Moore (40) and Mitchell Stokes (39 not out) reached the total in the 24th over to complete the eight-wicket win.

Kidsgrove moved into third spot after bowling Moddershall ‘A’ out for 132. Colin Wilkinson (4-22) and Mitchell Spencer (3-13) did the damage for Kidsgrove with Moddershall’s Alex Thorley top scoring with 36. Earlier, four of the Kidsgrove batsmen hit scores in the 30s as they hit 217-8 declared.

DIVISION THREE

Bagnall bridged a 14-point gap at the top of the Little Gym Division Three after a crucial win over second-placed Bignall End. Bignall End batted first hitting 272-8 thanks to Andrew Howle’s 101 and scores from Kim Barnett (40) and Ben Massey (60). But Bagnall’s batters refused to back down the chase reaching the total in the 52nd over, with Simon Gordon’s superb 133 and an unbeaten 106 from Kashif Daud in their stand of 235 as Bagnall completed a six-wicket win.

Woore sit in third after chasing down Stone SP’s score of 238-6 to win by five wickets. Asim Zaka’s unbeaten 117 helped Stone SP post a competitive total but Woore’s batsmen had other ideas as Harry Oliver (79) and Piradeban Ponnudurai (67 not out) helped to knock off the total in the 45th over.

Eccleshall had a convincing seven-wicket win over Endon. Endon were dismissed for 142 with three wickets apiece for Robert Hogarth (3-11) and Jack Boulton (3-9). And the total was chased down after 28 overs lead by Tim Ecclestone’s unbeaten 51 off 24 balls.

Oakamoor’s Muhammad Ayub took 5-21 as they bowled Hanford out for 109, chasing 159-9. Hanford’s Mike Coxon (6-57) bowled brilliantly in his marathon 28-over spell. But Oakamoor’s Will Leeson (51) batted sensibly early in their innings with Jonathon Wood (35) to help them to 159-9 which proved too many for Hanford’s batters.

Wootton completed a convincing 134-run win over Porthill Park ‘A’. Wootton hit 249-7 with Simon Barker finishing unbeaten on 93. Early wickets were the key to Wootton’s reply with the ball as James Carr (5-27) and Mark Wright (3-39) reduced Porthill Park ‘A’ to 46-6 and eventually bowling them out for 115 after 38 overs.

Troy Taylor’s stubborn 28 for Meir Heath/ Fenton helped them to a win over Hem Heath/ Forsbrook. Chasing 136 Meir Heath/Fenton looked to be struggling at 99-7 but Steve Bishop (19 not out) and Wasim Khan (11 no out) saw them home. Mark Sanders (4-34) and Ataur Rehman (4-55) doing the damage for Hem Heath/Forsbrook. Earlier, Mark Robinson top scored with the bat on 19 as no one stuck around, extras being the top scorer with 36 as Hem Heath/Forsbrook were all out in the 46th over.

But Robert Ratcliffe’s quickfire spell of 4-11 put a cat amongst the pidgeons and it needed a clam head from James Stevens (24 not out) to see them over the line.

Hem Heath/ Forsbrook beat Hanford by 27 runs.
